Role Reversal

I hope everbody had a great Thanksgiving Weekend.. Mine, of course, was ruined when Billy Cundiff decided to miss a field goal that would have ultimately won the game. Man, if the Cowboys don't make the playoffs, there is going to be a lot of woulda, coulda, shoulda going around.

I'm still continuing the 15/30 route. I want to thank everybody for their comments on the last couple of posts. I also enjoy doing this as it forces me to look at my play hand by hand. A third installment of this breakdown of my weekend play will be coming shortly... but the question of the day is when do the fish become the fisherman?... It seems that they (LAGs ) are doing the fishing and preying on the fisherman (TAGs) lately. This role reversal continues to give me and others a mighty heartburn as I played and watched them win huge hands.... thankfully I wasn't in all those big pots... lol.

I'm going to keep this post short; but will throw this out...

Playing 15/30 over 315ish hands, how do you think I ended up with the following stats:

VPIP (basically flop % - BB) = 17.89
Preflop Raises = 9.09
Won $ when seeing flop = 39.68%
Went to Showdown = 38.10%
Won $ when going to showdown = 58.33%

Was this my breakout weekend or more of the same?

Hand history to come.

I did get a nice comment during play this weekend (by a semi-good player)... I had pocket 9s and got my set on the flop. The betting was capped. An Ace came on turn and he checked and i checked.. rag on river and he bet and I called.. Of course he turned over AA and I lost. His comment was something like... Am I playing with my cards turned face up? Mr Sklansky might have been proud of my play as I probably lost the minimum in that situation. OK, OK.. I'm not a genius.. he did the old limp - raise thing which is usually a dead give away to either AA or KK.

Ok.. to be continued......

Have you read Holdem for Advanced Players, by Sklansky? You'd probably be able to gleen quite a bit of info out of the shorthanded section. Your VP$IP is WAY too low for shorthanded. You need to open up your range a bit.

Who said this was short handed?.. these stats are from 10Max tables.

And no I haven't read that one; but it is on the list.

Good thing you weren't over at my house watching the Broncos and the 'Boys. Everyone was chanting "WIDE LEFT - WIDE LEFT!" before that kick. And sure enough it was WIDE LEFT! Go Broncos!

ok, sorry. Didn't want to rub it in but its about time that that happened to some other team for a change.

chipper - Die hard Broncos fan.

Wonder why setaces thought it was short handed? Definitely a 10 max table.

I, also, recommend the Sklansky Advancded Holdem book. It has a lot of good info. on Middle Stakes Limit Holdem.

Look forward to the hand by hand

Those stats look pretty good to me. However, if you won small pots and lost big ones....

The Cundiff kick was really a punch in the stomach for me. Get with it you footard! Luckily, the Giants kicker sucked worse...

I'm impressed with your set of 9's hand. The comment was deserved...
