Boom

Not a good weekend...

It started off with a home tourney Friday night which I made a fairly quick exit. I was pretty short and raised with 77... 6 high flop and I pushed and got called by 99... oh well.

Nothing too exciting on Saturday as that is one of my prescribed days off... although I did get in a little for a small win... The University of Texas and Notre Dame continue to dominate and with V Tech going down, it looks like the stage may be set for the Rose Bowl. It should be a good one as long as UT and USC take care of business the rest of the way.. which is NOT a given.

That is where the fun stopped...

Saturday night while going to a family get together, I was walking with Baby Wonka and while trying to help her up the porch stairs.. I popped the joints on elbow out of whack. After a few hours, we saw that it wasn't getting betting, we took her to an Urgent Care place the tried to pop it back into place... Obviously, that wasn't fun for baby Wonka. They gave her a little sling and we went home. We finally got baby Wonka to sleep and we started to watch a movie. A big storm swept through St Louis Saturday night and about 10:30, we saw a flash and one of the biggest BOOMs I ever heard. I think I lost 3 years of my life. Our electricity didn't go off, so we looked around and everything seemed OK..

Fast forward to Sunday morning and baby Wonka is still not better so off to Urgent Care we go again. Meanwhile, upon further review, that big BOOM hit a little closer to home that we wanted. Our phone service and high speed was down... and to make things even worse.. through the cable, it pretty much fried my PC. I had a surge protector; but like a genius, I did not have the cable for the high speed running through it. The final tally so far is, PC, cable modem, router, a couple of phones, tread mill, and furnace are all on the fritz. By the way, after the second Urgent Care visit, baby Wonka is back to normal.. What a relief. It sure is a terrible feeling knowing that you accidentally hurt your child.

I also did not get to play in the Caribbean Sun 200K tourney since my internet was down.. how depressing.

I will give some props to Charter telephone/internet service as they were at my house within 1-2 hours that I reported the problem (on a Sunday)... so now we are trying to figure out things.

We do have a laptop, so I did play a little poker last night (without Poker Tracker) and suffered a pretty bad night. I don't know for sure on the tally as my spreadsheet is on my other PC. I sure hope to recover some of that PC data such as pictures, spreadsheets, poker data, music, etc etc...

Other than that... I had a good weekend...

Will--

Ouch is an understatement. There's nothing worse than seeing your child suffering, I think, so I know that had to be pretty stressful. It's good to know that surge protection isn't just a marketing scam, though. Post if you need anything as I might have some spare something laying around.

First of all, I hope that babyWonka is feeling better. I know littleChilly is destined for broken this or thats as he is a complete daredevil with no regard for gravity.

Second of all, how did you slip under my "I blog in STL" radar for so long?

Who links to my website?
