After being gifted this in one (see below) of the first few hands, I gave it all back and then a lot more only to finish about break even again for the day.
Hand #1
Full Tilt Poker $0.50/$1 Pot Limit Hold'em - 8 players - http://www.thehandconverter.com/hands/310093
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter
UTG+1: $42.80
MP1: $18.50
MP2: $140.50
Hero (CO): $100.40
BTN: $101.10
SB: $100.00
BB: $164.80
UTG: $110.05
Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is CO with Ad Ac
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $1, 2 folds, Hero raises to $4.50, BTN raises to $16, 3 folds, Hero raises to $50.50, BTN calls $34.50
Flop: ($103.50) Js 5d 3h (2 players)
Hero bets $49.90 all in, BTN calls $49.90
Turn: ($203.30) 3d (2 players - 1 is all in)
River: ($203.30) 8d (2 players - 1 is all in)
This next hand I felt was a little more interesting on all post flop streets.
Villain is 24/11/14.5 over 148 hands
So the total Aggression factor of 14.5 is WAY high. In general how do/should we play against these types?
Hand #2
Full Tilt Poker $0.50/$1 Pot Limit Hold'em - 9 players - http://www.thehandconverter.com/hands/310094
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter
MP1: $63.90
MP2: $31.70
CO: $109.80
BTN: $95.05
Hero (SB): $158.35
BB: $32.50
UTG: $80.65
UTG+1: $167.35
UTG+2: $131.15
Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is SB with 6d 5h
UTG calls $1, 6 folds, Hero calls $0.50, BB checks
Flop: ($3.00) 7h 8s 6c (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets $3, Hero calls $3, BB folds
Bottom pair and bottom end of straight draw. I'm not folding; but I can see an argument for raising; but against this type player who might reraise you, it would be a tougher spot.
Turn: ($9.00) 7s (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $4.50, Hero requests TIME, Hero calls $4.50
Board pairing shouldn't hurt me too much. It's may be turning into a way ahead or way behind thing. Only 1/2 pot bet? Thoughts on his bet sizing and how we should react to it?
River: ($18.00) 4s (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $10, Hero ??
OK.. hit my straight and the right end.. what do you do?
Have a nice day!!!

Hand #2
I wonder why he made a pot sized bet on the flop but then just half pot on turn/river. He may have a high aggression factor but even though he makes 3 bets OOP it doesn't smells like a very aggressive play.
If we leave the relatively small sample aside and asume that his stats gives us a good picture, what does it tell us? To me he seems like a player on the tight side (though not a nit) with a moderate level of aggression preflop. He obv. likes to mix up raises and limps.
From such a player I would not expect limps with hands like Ace-rag, low suited connectors or low pocket pairs from UTG. But I can imagine him playing this way with medium pairs and perhaps higher s.c. And: I wouldn't be surprised to see him slowplay AA/KK here.
Although I'm a little bit surprised that he doesn't bet higher on the turn for protective reason if he has an overpair his AF tells me he can have anything that is some kind of hand. The question is: What happens if we raise to say 40 or something like that. One way of interpret his stats is that he likes to c-bet but is quick to lay down his cards against raises unless he really hasn't something. In that case a raise won't get us any more money - but if he has T9, 88, 77 or 66 (none of them unlikely) we will probably face a raise allin that we have to call for pot odds reasons. On the other hand it feels ridiculously tight to just call here. So perhaps I'll rise after all and if he has a full house or quads - well gl sir!
Carbon copy what Henrik said. I think a 3x raise is in order here. Nitty me would be calling the river bet and potentially losing value here, but you played the hand for exactly the results you wanted. Now it's time to get paid for the risk you took.
Villain's AF is pretty meaningless here. 14.5 simply shows that he's folding a lot but betting or raising if he plays the hand.
As for the river, you've played the hand like a draw. You called the turn so you need to call on the river unless you'd planned to fold to a river bet after the very best card in the deck hit you on the river.
I don't see much point in raising. Your hand is transparent. His river bet is likely a blocking bet with an overpair or a suck-bet with a better straight or the boat.
And for the record, I don't think a raise on the flop is that bad. If he shoves over the top, call if your OESD has enough equity against a set or overpair.
That's my two cents...
I don't love to call on the flop in that hand with just bottom pair and the ass end of the oesd. I have found over the years that I used to play pair-plus-oesd hands too aggressively, and that over time I was only making strong profits with them when the pair I held was the top pair (98 on an 876 board) or an overpair to the board (JJ on the 876 board). But I probably would make that call there anyways.
When the board pairs on the turn, now you have just one card to make your oesd (ass end, remember), plus now trips and even a boat are possible to best even your straight. When he bets the turn there, I think a fold is the best play. I'm surprised nobody has said that so far, but I think that's a bad call on the turn there against most players.
On the river, I think once you've stayed in on the turn, you probably have to call after hitting your straight. Raising I think is a bad play since he could have a boat or either of two higher straights, but folding is a bit too tight since you're still in the hand now and you may have just retaken the lead against a hand like two pairs or trip 7s.
How many times does it need to be said...14.5 AF over 150 means ~nothing. It is absolutely the least meaningful piece of info in the hand. On the river, I'd say he's pretty much never bluffing. But it's possible he could be betting for thin value with an overpair. Since his value range is like...boats (looking at his preflop stats, he could probably have any of them), straights, flushes, and overpairs, and maybe an occasional seven. You're getting almost 3:1...but I don't see you being good that often. I'd just fold turn if I had check/called flop. But I think it's a fair spot to lead on flop and turn.
Yeah really interesting hand. I like the blog.
Yup! Villain's AF is pretty meaningless here, no needed..of that..flop is okay.
