Short and sweet today.... or should I say... short and sour...
My bad luck continued last night. Yesterday, I said I was going to take a break.... but wait... Tuesday's are historically my best day so how can I sit it out... Couple that with Mrs Wonka going out for the night gave me no other choice...
And as per recent trends have gone... I found myself stuck early.... $100..... $200.... $300.... $400... OK.. enough... It is amazing how fast the money can go; but how long it typically seems to build it up... An hour's worth of building up can vanish in minutes... OK this time, I didn't keep to my senses and of course opened up a 10/20 table... I actually made about $150 in 21 hands and left as I was also making up ground on the 3/6 tables... So I close the 10/20 and open up a new 3/6. This was on Absolute and they probably had 10 tables of 3/6 short handed going last night so there is definitely an upward trend in Absolute traffic.
This is usually the part of the night where I start to make my comeback... Let's see how it goes..
The 3/6 playing returned to $400.... $500... $600.... OK.. back to the 10/20 tables.. Overall in 74 hands, I had a playing profit of $460 on the 10/20 tables... Again, I close down the 10/20 tables.... So now for the exciting climax... the end to this evening...
3/6 playing lost was on the rise... $500.... $400... $500...$600... $700... and here are the final 3 hands..
K9o in the SB... 539 all clubs (I've got none).. Turn 8.. River T.. Lost J4s from UTG+1 position.
KQo on the Button.. UTG raises and I 3 bet.. actually goes 5 handed... good pot going... 95A all diamonds (I have Q of diamonds).. Just one bet on flop... Turn 2d.. 1 bet on turn (I'm leading the action on both flop and turn).. River 4d.. This time UTG+1 leads out and I cap with the 2nd nut flush... unfortunately, I lost to KTs who flopped the nuts.. I know, I know.. should have caught on to that one... You know what I say... never fear the monster... Of course, it doesn't work all the time..
And then my last hand with AQo (again on the button with new player coming in to the BB).. I have $30 left and push against a 66% player who has 33 and flops the set so I lose the race big time... At this point, I've just had $94 gone in 3 hands giving me a playing loss of $824 at 3/6...
So all together in 919 hands (3.63 hours) with the $824 loss at 3/6, the $460 gain at 10/20 and just $30 in bonus (ran out of bonus) giving me a not so nice day of -$334. After review, I don't see where I strayed from my normal playing style... sometimes the cards just don't come. I'm OK with that.
This time for real, I plan on taking 3 days off as I will return this week to try to extend my weekly winning streak. We'll see how it goes...
One final thing... I'm taking the advice of our Atlanta friend, CC, and used my Party Points to order Pro Academy Pro. I've always wanted to give it a try and now maybe I will. It certainly can't hurt.

Is 3-betting KQo in SH a standard move? There must have been a few coldcallers to UTG's initial raise. Having the button is good but how often does KQo stand up in a 5 way hand? UTG+1 had to love the action there.
In my humble opinion... Yes..and No.. Boy do I hate that answer. In that situation I felt is was good. I did lay down KQo 2 times last night to raises; but given the over tightness of the PFR and the general looseness of the game, and beingo on the button, I was OK with it.
Another thing it does is give me information. If he caps, then I know I'm in trouble or at least need a lot of help. He didn't.
The name of the game.. or at least my game.. is selective aggressiveness and I felt it was the right move at the time..
UTG+1 was a fairly tight player who would lay down hands...
but to your point...if UTG+1 is a tight player that called down the pre-flop raises and then raised later in the hand, I would have bailed...hell, I would have bailed when I missed the flop with 5 other players rather than chasing the 4-flush with the Q in my hand.
Good catch.. I meant the original raiser, UTG, is the one that led out on the river.
Bailed on the flop because I didn't catch anything? I guess that is the difference between me and you.. I'm drawing to 2nd nut in a 5 way hand that was 3 betted preflop on a very loose table with the exception of PFRr.. can you possibly get any better odds than that?
You'll have to let me know what you think of Poker Academy. My brother is the real zealot; I've played more in the past on Wilson Turbo (but use Poker Academy more now). For what it's worth, I'm down $39,000 on MTT's.
