Why do I think Fancy Play Syndrome will work at 50NL/50PL. So what if the guy is 80/30, he still can check behind. Nice way to fix my leak of not getting max value on my hands. Ok, more on that later.
I won an impressive $1.90 on my session tonight. The highlight of the session except for the aforementioned FPS was hitting a set twice only to lose to a 4 card straight of an under pair. In other words, I had something like 99 I hit my straight and the board ends up 689T and pocket 7s wins... The last one was a tough one because it was against one of those ultra TAGs. I didn't hit my set; but let's take a look.
Villain is 8/6/2.0

UTG: $59.50
UTG+1: $107.10
UTG+2: $63.05
Hero (MP1): $63.00
MP2: $143.20
CO: $76.40
BTN: $50.00
SB: $36.85
BB: $72.50
Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is MP1 with Ks Kh
UTG raises to $2, 2 folds, Hero calls $2, 4 folds, BB calls $1.50
OK.. This guy raising UTG is realistically only 3 hands maybe 4. QQ, KK(unlikely since I have it) or AA.. maybe AKs.
Even worse, I had just reached my 200 pts and winding down and I am up close to 1 buyin. I don't really want to go home with a KK vs AA hand. Couple these two reasons and I don't want to play a big pot. I'll take the risk of pricing somebody else in. My other option was to 3bet and fold KK preflop to a raise and that would stink.
Flop: ($6.25) Jh Td 3s (3 players)
BB checks, UTG bets $4, Hero raises to $10, BB folds, UTG calls $6
OK, let's find out. Bet sizing is probably little off here. Should be more like $12-$14. If I get re-raised, I can find a fold pretty easily.
Turn: ($26.25) Ac (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks
YIKES!!! He checked. Would he really check Aces here? What about AK?
River: ($26.25) Kd (2 players)
UTG bets $10, Hero requests TIME, Hero calls $10
The only thing I beat here is AK. It was one of those calls that I just wanted to know.
I think you could argue that I played every street wrong. Thoughts?
Final Pot: $46.25
UTG shows Qs Qc (a straight, Ace high)
Hero mucks Ks Kh
UTG wins $43.95
(Rake: $2.30)

I just discovered iTunes Radio. Nice! I really like it. I found a 90s Alternative Station that brings me back to my college days. Nice!!!! Some STP, Jars of Clay, King Missle, Toad the Wet Sprocket, even Metallica. Very cool.
Now, they are playing Tori Amos.. really get into this station.
I guess I am dating myself here. Oh well.

OK.. this is just for amusement. I'm done with FPS. I don't know what I was thinking.

Definitely give up on the FPS - although I'm not sure if checking monster hands or slowplaying KK pre-flop counts as FPS.
Every NL game played below $200 is beatable by playing solid ABC poker. Bet good hands for value, call with pot odds, and check/fold the rest.
Good luck with any weekend poker you decide to play!
Yep, the KK wasn't FPS.. Just an example of a badly played hand..
slowplaying monster type hands in my opinion is a little bit of FPS. Anything other than playing solid ABC might be construed as FPS.
Wonka,
I can understand the "I'm about to quit" mentality, since I commit the same sin, but you should be wary of any circumstance that forces you to play a different style than the optimal one. For this reason, I always quit immediately when I'm done, rather than waiting for the blinds to roll around.
Even though your villain is super-tight, you can still extract a lot of value from his range. KK vs. AA sucks, but I really don't think you can ever beat yourself up over it. However, you may want to beat yourself up over missing out on a golden KK vs. QQ or KK vs. AK opportunity.
I like a slightly bigger raise on the flop, and after that I think your action is fine.
I hate all of the hands you posted on this one. Absolutely hate it. I got nothing to say about the KK hand. If you want pot control, don't raise the flop. In other words, if you want to play it weak, commit to playing it weak. If you're gonna play aggressive, then be aggressive. This passive aggressive thing is just terrible.
The KQ hand, dude, you gotta bet out. If you had AQ there, would you just check? xxy boards are such a great board to bet when you hit the "x" because you should also be cbetting there with all the times you're NOT hitting.
AT hand... same thing. I will also say this. If you are gonna check call, then get that money in on the turn or the river. This passive playing is COSTING you money.
