Poker is Fun, Isn't it? I need to keep remind myself. I had a little 550 hand session where it didn't turn out too well. As usual, started down again and made a slight comeback. Again, around the 300 hand mark, I had won 33% of my showdowns. Now, I know we all have bad beats (and some people don't like to talk about it); but they sure get old... especially when the happen in near consecutive hands. and especially when the villain is a uber LAG type.
I continue to play on Poker Stars. I'm still not sure why when I set down, Pokerstars is usually the first site that I open; but it is what it is.
Below is a series of hands that happened over just a 9 hand stretch. The villain in each of the hands below was a guy that say 75% of flops and raised nearly 30% and I usually had position on him. So between not giving him credit for hands and others things, this was the biggest chunk of my losing session. Enjoy. They might not be in the right order?

And then there was this hand on another table where I gave up with Pocket Aces and would have hit runner, runner. Who knew? In reality, the pot was probably too big to give up on and probably could have called down.

Hand 1 is really not a bad beat. Sure you were ahead but I mean the hand kinda plays itself out.
Hand 2 - Q9? Unreal. Your notes on him should just say "idiot."
Hand 3 - another one where your deception led to the guy making the call to catch the two outer. Sucks but happens.
Hand 4 - K3? UTG? No raise? I don't get it.
Hand 5 - Sucks but nice laydown. No sense in dwelling over what coulda been.
Some of these hands sucked but not worth losing sleep over or even tilting for that matter (not saying you did - I'm jus saying). Aside from the guy calling you down with Q9, none of it was really that gross and letting these hands roll off your shoulder without second thought is key to keeping up high level of play.
Good luck!
Hi Alan..
Didn't mean to say that they were all bad beats. I think most of them were river beats and when 4 or 5 of them happen in succession, and to the same guy, it stinks.
I don't really tilt. You don't have time to tilt when playing 3 or 4 tables. You look up after a while and see that you are winning in 3 tables and way behind in another. You look a little closer and it IS a good table to be playing at so you stay.
No deception on Hand 3.. just looking to keep pot somewhat small.
Hand 4.. ok.. hadn't reloaded yet.. and ok.. maybe I did want to catch something lucky and get they guy back.. but unfortunately, he left the table after this hand.
Hand 5.. 2+2 had some good discussion as to why this was a bad laydown. Plus they didn't like my flop raise. OH well. Live and learn.
