SNG - Day 5

I only played one set. It only took one set to find out that my luck wasn't changing. In one of my games, I get AQ on the first hand and called a minimum raise from the BB. Nothing on the flop and someone bets out big. I fold, of course, and wait to fight another battle. AQ hasn't been good to me anyway. It was an easy fold. Well, the battle came sooner than I thought. Hand #5 is below:

Why did I push on the flop? It doesn't really matter, I would have gotten my chips in on the turn when I hit the flush. The question is.... would he have called with the flopped straight. Since he would have also hit a flush, the answer is probably yes. Now, had I known he had the straight, that would have been a different story.. ha.

I then proceeded to tilt away another game when my AT (with an Ace on the flop) got beat by AK. Normally, I would never have called a huge flop bet with AT; but I wasn't in the best of moods. When the ace came on the flop and he went all in; that sometimes means that someone has a high pair (not an ace) and is trying to take the pot right there. Bad read, huh? Yes, I still need to work on this. Anyway, below is the summary:

July SNG Breakdown
July 5
5 - 7
8 - 10

  1. 10th - AKs lost T9s A high flush lost to str8 flush
  2. 10th - AT lost to AK
  3. 2nd - KQ lost K6
  4. 2nd - J9 lost T7 .. 2 pair lost to straight

Eventually and hopefully, things will return to normal.

In other news.. I just finished Matt Matros's book. It was a very good read. It is not going to make me a better poker player; but that is not the intention of the book. It is basically his story from the kitchen table to the final table at the WPT championship. I definitely recommend it

Rough streak, I had one ridiculous suckout after another last night as well. When I start wondering if it's fixed I know I'm on a bad luck streak.

Keep at it, are you playing $50s?

WillWonka said...

Yep, playing the $50s. I played with Poker Nerd the other night.

What level are you playing at?

Hang in there, it will turn around. I'm in the midst of the same type of down turn, albeit at much lower levels, but it will turn around.
I can't remember the last time I sucked out on someone or got my money in with the best of it and my hand held up.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, I will try trillion tonight.
