No Longer a Hobby? Check call it down or fold on river?

Terrible weekend. I lost 12 cents. Ok, that was from poker playing; but from my rakeback payment and a little Blackjack, I was up about $75. Not real good; but a winning weekend from a dollars perspective.

Well, for the first time in my 5 year online poker career, I have decided to start withdrawing money. I've always stated that this is just a hobby and didn't want to withdraw to change that; but I've decided to change that. Part of the reason is just to show Mrs Wonka that something tangible is coming from all of my poker playing which is again only about 1 hour a day. The second thing is we bought a new car and how cool would it be to have poker monies pay for a new car. Don't get me wrong, I don't have enough money online to pay for a new car; but I have enough to help with payments. Speaking of payments, how said it is to have a car payment. I've gotten used to not having one.

I am really getting the football itch as opening day is only a couple of weeks away. Fantasy drafts are happening so the fever is getting high. I still have to wait until a week from tomorrow until we have our draft. I'm going to have to start looking at the preseason stuff at some point. I've really on watched the Cowboys who are ready for their Super Bowl Run!!!

OK, for the hand of the day.

Villain is 32/29/6.0 over just 30 hands. Steals 100%.

5 folds, CO raises to $1.50, 1 fold, Hero calls $1.25, 1 fold

Hero checks, CO bets $2, Hero calls $2

Hero checks, CO bets $5.50, Hero calls $5.50

River: ($18.50) 5s (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets $16.50, Hero ??

My plan was to check call this down. Should I be giving up by the river? Should I be raising somewhere along the line (including preflop)?

Have a nice day!!!

I don't like the call preflop. What's your plan for the hand? If you hit one pair on the flop and he barrels hard, what should you do? I like 3betting sometimes and folding most of the time.

Anyway, as played, I think it is a call. He is completely capable of barreling w/ air. If you call the turn, you have to plan on calling on a blank river.

Yeah I'm not a huge fan of this play in a cash game either, right from the preflop call. You are probably going to have to call the river once you've called 3 other times in the hand, which is why I would prefer to just give up my blinds with KTs rather than lose $25 with it.

Ima guess he had you on this one, maybe with KQ or something.

lead the turn or checkraise - rep KQ and see what happens.

I ended up sticking to the plan. With these type of opponents, they will continue to fire away. So what did I do, I called.

I thought for a slight moment of raising; but that wouldn't work as there isn't much that he would be calling me with.

What did he have? A6o.
